Inside Poker is having a monthly series of five freerolls over at Full Tilt, one in each of the HORSE games. The first is in Limit Hold'em, and the first prize is an entry into a bracelet event at the World Series. The final table also go through to a live event to win a main event seat.
It's tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 7pm.
Of course, I'm sure you've all bought the latest Inside Poker to read my latest article, so you probably know about this tournament already, and you probably also know what the password is too, right?

I sure did. For my detractors here is the proof!
Pretty chuffed considering at one point I was nearly going to bubble. On a key hand my desperate push (or as much of a push as you can in limit) with A-3 offsuit (no hearts) was called in two places. On the river the board was:
My hand held up - both other players had king high with no heart.
The prize is a $2000 bracelet event entry (probably to a Limit Hold'em event - yikes!), plus $3000 for travel, accommodation etc. There's also a 54-player live event later in the year to win a seat in the main event, which I'm entered into.
It's been a great night, but the possible highlight was entering the results into my spreadsheet and seeing this:
Lol. I promise not to boast much more. |

Omaha 8 is next month and Razz the month after. I don't know the exact dates but they'll be published in Inside Poker (as IE is now called) and then I'll post them here.
I really wanted to play the other events too - but I'm not allowed now! On the plus side, the editor's going to give me an exclusive contract to write for them, which is awesome. |

Yep that was some comeback, you managed the most anyone can ask for that is not to get lucky but not to get unlucky and catch the right cards at the right time and play them well.
[Cue rant about my quadrupling up, losing the absolute min with aa v kk on k rag rag flop, getting qq beat by K3 (trip 3's ffs), then losing the absolute max with QQ into KK (damn LAG player with a hand - should have known better like before) with a small pair on flop, which would have put me right up there oh well]
Looking forward to the stud 8 and omaha hi/lo in particular, I fear the razz one may last for days and days...
At least playing limit hold'em you'll get to see a lot of hands at the wsop not get sucked out on for all your chips by a big fish early on! |

You never know, the stud games may not generate as big fields the HE and O8 as they may not be as popular. How cool would it be if we could get another one of us to the WSOP through this. |

Yeah it'll be Limit Omaha Eight or Better (there's a freeroll in each of the five HORSE games, plus a sixth for good measure). Dunno about the password - you'll have to check out the next issue of Inside Poker!

That had crossed my mind. But I'll have to practice the bloody game now. |

Think the tournies will only get bigger as word spreads, but who knows. |

http://www.inside-edge-mag.co.uk/...n_association_with_full_tilt.html
The Five Star H.O.R.S.E. Classics in association with Full Tilt got off to a cracking start on Tuesday night with well over 300 runners sitting down to play.
This tournament was the first in a series of five, with a different H.O.R.S.E. disicpline being played in each. First up was Limt Hold’Em.
Perhaps because it's unfamiliar game for some in these days of No Limit global domination, playing styles and standards were mixed, but the tournament settled down and some good poker was played.
The night belonged to long time reader and occasional contributor Alex Scott.
Alex has been reading the magazine since issue 8 and his postings on various forums attracted the attention of the InsideEdge team who asked him to write a strategy article for the magazine. But until now he has remained a reader first and a writer second.
Following his win in the first of the Classics we've decided to make him a full part of the team, and you will find him each month in the magazine.
He will be writing the remainder of the strategy guides for the H.O.R.S.E. tournaments starting with Razz in the April issue of the magazine.
Sadly for him, and luckily for the rest of you, that means he won't be able to win any further tournaments.
Alex wins a 2007 WSOP package courtesy of Full Tilt and was obviously pleased with the way he played. “I picked up some quality hands at the right time, and I didn’t make too many big mistakes.”
“At one point I was close to being eliminated on the bubble of the final table. On a key hand my desperate push (or as much of a push as you can in Limit) with A-3 offsuit (no hearts) was called in two places. There was an Ace and four hearts on the board and my hand held up - both other players had King high with no heart.
As for the heads-up battle, Alex went with an ultra-aggressive strategy. "I’d build the pot preflop with a raise, and then take it down postflop when I felt my opponent was weak (or when I had a hand). My opponent seemed to go a bit card dead and I managed to grind him down, and won the last hand with pocket Sixes.
Alex has been to Las Vegas before and was planning to go this year, but will doubly look forward to the trip now.
“I was going to play a couple of small events (a Razz event and a NLHE) but this is a nice bonus – it’ll save me a lot of money on the hotel and airfare, plus I get to play an extra event. I might also play the Main Event if I can fluke my way in.” |

Did you opt out of writing the strategy guide for limit O/8 or had someone already done it ? |

Pretty sure Phil Shaw (bald guy at the BPO who played slowly) grabbed the Omaha 8 one.
Quite frankly I'm not sure I'm qualified to write an article on Stud High... |

I'll write it for you. Last night I made trips like 3 times by 5th street. That's how you play stud. Then bet some.
When in doubt, check/call it down. Easy. |
